Can I use insulin pumps in the AQUAPAC?
Since many inquiries for waterproof bags for insulin pumps are received, Aquapac UK from Imperial College London has carried out an examination of the Aquapac models "Radio Microphone" (identical to the bag 158 insulin pump *) and "Connected Electronics 558" * (is with the identical guide rail of the 158 * equipped) with insulin pumps.
The results show that in some cases, the flow of insulin can be reduced by closing the Aquapac. Small flow rates are particularly difficult. Therefore Aquapac assumes no liability for the consequences of using insulin pumps in Aquapacs. Use is at the discretion of the user. Aquapac has been recommended that users of insulin pumps in Aquapacs regularly check their blood sugar levels if they do not follow our recommendations.
The tests were carried out by the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine with a Roche Accu-Chek Spirit insulin pump in August 2006 - at an ambient temperature of 20 ° C and insulin quantities of 2 and 10 units / hour.
The amounts of insulin delivered over 60 minutes were measured as follows:
2U / h without Aquapac: 0.0131g (flow rate 100%)
2U / h in Aquapac radio microphone / insulin pump: 0.0106g (flow rate 81%)
2U / h in Aquapac radio microphone / insulin pump (2nd test model): 0.0056g (flow rate 42%)
2U / h in Aquapac Connected Electronics: 0.0121g (flow rate 92%)
10U / h without Aquapac: 0.0864g (flow rate 100%)
10U / h in Aquapac radio microphone / insulin pump: 0.0878g (flow rate 100%)
10U / h in Aquapac Connected Electronics: 0.0903g (flow rate 100%)

What stops the water getting in?
The connected electronics are tested to IPX6, which means as waterproof as you can get without actually immersing the bags underwater. Fire-hose proof! The testing: Protected against heavy seas - Water projected at all angles through a 12.5mm nozzle at a flow rate of 100 liters/min at a pressure of 100kN/m2 for 3 minutes from a distance of 3 meters. Floating on the surface is no problem, submersible for a very short time.

"Ich war vergangene Woche auf
Wellness-Urlaub in einem Hotel mit einer großen Thermalbadelandschaft.
Dabei war ich jeden Tag mindestens einmal, oft jedoch zweimal pro Tag im
Wasser. Da ich nicht abkoppelbare Katheter benutze, war es mir sehr
wichtig, die Pumpe zum Schwimmen nicht ablegen zu müssen. Ich muss
sagen: Das Aquapac für Insulinpumpen hat mir dabei sehr gute Dienste
geleistet! Ich habe die Pumpe ins Aquapac getan, das Aquapac korrekt
verschlossen und mir es um den Bauch geschnallt. Das Band habe ich dabei
so weit geöffnet, dass das Aquapac mit der Pumpe an der
Wasseroberfläche geschwommen ist. Die Pumpe ist dabei vollkommen trocken
geblieben. Dadurch konnte ich auf ständiges Messen verzichten sowie auf
regelmäßige Insulingaben mit Spritze und Pen. Ein riesengroßes
Dankeschön dafür!!!!"
Was ich aber zuvor gemacht habe, ist: an meiner Pumpe habe ich den
Reservoirfachdachdeckel und den Batteriefachdeckel ausgetauscht, um zu
gewährleisten, dass durch diese „Löcher“ kein Wasser eindringen kann,
sollte es einmal passieren, dass das Aquapac durch meine eigene
Unachtsamkeit nicht mehr dicht hält. Das Silikon am Reservoirfachdeckel
und das Gummi des Batteriefachdeckels haben ebenfalls kein Wasser ins
Pumpengehäuse eindringen lassen. Außerdem habe ich 110 Zentimeter lange
Katheter-Schläuche benutzt, um sicherzugehen, dass ich mir den Katheter
nicht aus Versehen aus der Haut reiße. Den Katheter habe ich auf der
Haut mit zwei zusätzlichen Pflastern gesichert.

Care Instructions
Our materials are strong but can still be punctured. Avoid sharp or
abrasive objects and protect from impacts. Consider carrying Puncture Patches in your bag, to repair any damage.
After regular contact with chlorinated or salt water, or with sun
creams, wash in soapy water and then rinse with fresh water. Do not use

Will I really get good photos through plastic?
Yes! We use a special flexible lens material, unscratchable
polycarbonate. It's optically-clear. You get the lens material on the
back of the case, so you can use your camera on the back of your
smartphone. The Window is large enough so that it fits for all kind of
smartphones. And the sturdy but flexible material at the front allows
you to operate all the controls.
Ok, not every photo is going to be perfect. But we're all used to

What stops the water getting in?
The connected electronics are tested to IPX6, which means as
waterproof as you can get without actually immersing the bags
underwater. Fire-hose proof! The testing: Protected against heavy seas -
Water projected at all angles through a 12.5mm nozzle at a flow rate of
100 liters/min at a pressure of 100kN/m2 for 3 minutes from a distance
of 3 meters. Floating on the surface is no problem, submersible for a
very short time.

The Connected Electronics case features the 'TC' Aquaclip a wire-thru
seal which is watertight allowing wires up to 2.5mm (1/10th inch) thick
to be used with your equipment.
Use of Aquapac cases with Insulin Pumps:
Aquapac have commissioned research* by Imperial College London into the use of the 154* (Radio Microphone case) and 554* (Connected Electronics case)
after receiving a large number of customer enquiries regarding their
suitability for use with insulin pumps. Results show that, in some
circumstances, insulin flow rate can be reduced by the case. In
particular, low flow rates are impeded, and as such Aquapac can make no
claim regarding the suitablity of these cases with insulin pumps. Use of
these cases for insulin pumps is entirely at the discretion of the
user. Aquapac has been advised to recommend that users of Aquapac cases
with insulin pumps regularly check their blood sugar levels.
The tests were conducted by Imperial College of Science, Technology
and Medicine using a Roche Accu-Check Spirit insulin pump at a
temperature of 20C at flow rates of 2U/hr and 10U/hr.
The amounts of insulin delivered over 60 minutes observed were as follows:
2U/hr not in case - 0.0131g (flow rate of 100%)
2U/hr in Aquapac 154 - 0.0106g (flow rate of 81%)
2U/hr in Aquapac 154 - 0.0056g (2nd test model)(flow rate of 42%)
2U/hr in Aquapac 554 - 0.0121g (flow rate of 92%)
10U/hr not in case - 0.0864g (flow rate of 100%)
10U/hr in Aquapac 154 - 0.0878g (flow rate of 100%)
10U/hr in Aquapac 554 - 0.0903g (flow rate of 100%)

Will I really get good photos through plastic?
Yes! The special flexible lens material we use to make the lens
windows is called LENZFLEX. It's optically-clear. You get a LENZFLEX
window on the back of the case, so you can use your camera either way
round. And the sturdy but flexible material allows you to operate all
the controls.
Ok, not every photo is going to be perfect. But we're all used to
that aren't we! Most of the time nobody will be able to tell you were
using a case.

Our rescue Kit: If you forget have
to pack your electronic device in an Aquapac.
Simply Pack in the dry bag, close
the zip, wait 24 hours and let the highly effective molecular sieves working, a
dehumidifier.The device removes the moisture.Whether your device will work
again after that, unfortunately we can take over no guarantee.But the rescue
kid is useful once, better such as blow dry (which the humidity further can
express in the device).Before packing in a moisture-proof
rescue bag made of aluminium composite foil switch off the appliance (which
already now should be based on occurrence of water damage).Remove any
protective covers, remove the SIM and memory cards, if possible also the
battery. Open the Wiselive Rescue Kit, put everything
into and reseal the pouch with the zip fastener. Do not open during the drying
phase.
